…for everyone who wants to stay informed about what GMO is and about other related topics.
I am following the GLP organisation for a quite long, so they are legit.

My short review ![]()
The “best” thing I hear when some people (some “educated” too) speak about genetics/chemistry and claim, that GMOs, as well as chemicals and science in general are baaaad for us!
Most of them obviously missed basic biology and chemistry classes, and do not know how science works as well. The science is the only activity which we as a species invented to effectively extend our horizon of falsifiable, verifiable, empirically tested and reproducible knowledge. This is usually known as scientific method.
Back to the GLP. Everything alive has genes and everything what is in today’s use (vegetables, pets, etc) have been modified long before the modern genetics occurred (by us or by the nature; simple evolution). These processes never stopped. Even every childbirth is a brand-new genetic modification/mutation and very often with mutations which cause diseases, etc. So even the factory “Mother Nature” does its job very lousy. So much for the claims that everything in/out of the nature is perfect and in harmony. People mistake the natural balance for perfection, obviously. Today, instead using the old practice (simple pollination) to mix, let say, two flower species and create a new one, we use more refined and exact procedures to accomplish the same goal. Those who believe that there are still authentic seeds, like ones used by our ancestors a century, a millennia or more ago, need a big reality check. The other thing I hear: “this food (or any other product) is without chemicals”. Well, again, everything is chemical, organic or inorganic. You, your water, your tears, your child, your “bio” products, every pesticide (biologically or synthetically made) are still chemicals/chemical compounds. Atoms and compounds don’t care whether they are synthesized by the Nature or by a chemist in a laboratory, because there is absolutely no difference between a hydrogen atom in a strand of DNA or a hydrogen atom in a water molecule. In fact, thanks to the genetic engineering we are able to reduce the negative effects of climate change on our crops. Without it, we would be without food long time ago.
These are the facts that many don’t want to recognise (or don’t know about it). In particular, many organisations that say to be “pro-nature” (read: pro-their-own-profit) are cherry-picking between the actual facts to support their claims. So, if you reeeaaaly want to educate yourself about GMOs and other scientific topics, the GLP is a good starting point.
